DIRECTIONS FOR USAGE-- MILKING COWS

Recommended daily feeding rate: 10 grams (0.022 pounds) per head per day. This is fed to high producing, early lactation cows to supply 2 Billion CFU's bacteria and 50 Billion CFU's of live cell yeast per head per day. Check with your ANC consultant for specific feeding recommendations for your herd.

Micro NRG Plus is packaged in 10# bags, overpacked in a 40 pound bag. This helps keep the product fresh, while eliminating more expensive packaging options.

HOW DOES MICRO NRG PLUS WORK?
BACTERIA
•Lactic acid producing bacteria- These are gut adapted strains that colonize in the small intestine and the rumen, which aid in appetite stimulation. They help maintain proper pH so that cows increase feed intake and reduce chances of cows being "off feed".

ENZYMES
•Alpha-amylase- Helps to break down starch and more complex sugars into simple, easily digestible sugars.
•Protease- Acts as a catalyst in the gut to break down protein into amino acids.
•Betaglucanase- Also acts to break down complex carbohydrates into simple sugars.
•Cellulase- Works with Hemicellulase to break down fiber.
•Hemicellulase- Breaks down the fiber wall and digests hemicellulose. The result is a more complete utilization of feed stuffs and more nutrients available to help produce more milk.

LIVE YEAST CELLS
•Can increase dry matter intake, which is very important for early lactation cows that tend to have depressed DMI.
•Helps to maintain a normal rumen and gut microflora.
•Provides B-vitamins and unidentified growth factors.
•Helps to maintain body weight and body condition.
•Can increase microbial flow to the lower gut and increase the flow of microbial protein reaching the lower gut.

ECONOMIC$
INCREASED DRY MATTER INTAKE: Feeding Micro NRG Plus can increase dry matter intake. This is especially important for early lactation animals where dry matter intake tends to be depressed. Research shows that a 1 pound increase in dry matter intake will yield an additional 2.5 pounds of milk per cow per day.

IMPROVED FEED UTILIZATION: Feeding Micro NRG Plus can lead to better feed utilization. This allows you to receive greater value for your forages and grains by increasing weight gains and production. This could even be a benefit for raising larger replacement heifers in a less time.

HELPING KEEP COWS ON FEED: Cows will stay on feed better, especially when making forage changes, and feeding cows through hot weather. The live yeast cells in Micro NRG Plus provide palatability enhancers.

BETTER RUMEN HEALTH: Improved fermentation can be achieved. The yeast provides exogenous enzymes and B vitamins which stimulate total anaerobic and cellulolytic bacteria. Since the yeast used in this product is active dry yeast, rather than yeast culture, it has much greater fermentative activity. Micro NRG Plus also helps to maintain normal rumen and gut microflora. A healthy rumen means a healthy cow!

HIGHER FAT AND PROTEIN YIELDS: Studies have shown that cows given a yeast supplement had higher protein and fat yields than cows that were not given a yeast supplement.

HIGHER MILK PRODUCTION: ANC customers report milk increases of 2-6 pounds per cow per day in many situations. With milk being worth 13 to 14 cents it is not hard to spend 9 cents to help increase your profits!

NO PRODUCT IS A SUBSTITUTE FOR A GOOD NUTRITION PROGRAM! Micro NRG Plus is designed to be used in conjunction with a good ration balancing program. ANC can help supply you with the answers!

Research
Field research with ANC customers has shown milk responses of up to 8 pounds per cow per day, with 2-4 pounds being quite common. The effects of microbials, yeast, and enzymes on milk production were more obvious when hot weather, feed changes, molds, and other stress conditions were present. When cows are in any situation that causes reduced feed intake and utilization, they will benefit from the addition of Micro NRG Plus to the diet.

In a study done at Rutgers University, yeast increased the performance of Holstein cows when used in conjunction with bST. The study used 40 cows and took place over 17 weeks. The study showed that feeding yeast along with bST increased dry matter intake, increased milk yield more than using bST alone, and maintained body condition score.
(research study conducted by Tania Otero under the supervision of Dr. James Wohlt at Rutgers University.)

A study done at the University of Kentucky on the effects of microbial supplements containing yeast and lactobacilli on ruminant animals fed diets high in roughage found that animals fed live yeast had higher concentrations of cellulolytic and anaerobic bacteria than animals that were fed dead yeast. Also, the relative concentration of propionate was increased, and the acetate:propionate ratio was decreased. (study conducted by Dawson, Newman, and Boling at the University of Kentucky, Journal of Animal Science, vol. 68, p.3392-3398)

Many trials have been conducted by universities in order to research the difference of live vs. dead yeast cells in the rumen. These studies have shown that live yeast cells are needed for optimal stimulation of the microbes in the rumen.

The addition of yeast to a low crude protein diet increased yields of 4% FCM and fat. It also tended to increase the production of milk and milk protein, which was probably due to the increase in dry matter intake that was observed. (Journal of Dairy Science, vol. 80, p. 374-384)

At times, milk response may be difficult to measure, as many factors influence rumen health. For this reason, a specific milk production response cannot be guaranteed. We at ANC would be skeptical of any company making such a claim for their product. Remember, ration balancing, forage and grain quality, water, air, and management are very important ingredients!
