DAIRY HP-BIO is a supplemental stress product designed for higher producing cows in early lactation, and for cows 3 weeks before freshening (PrefreshRations). Research shows many production and health benefits from the use of the ingredients in Dairy HP-Bio. However, if dozens and dozens of micronutrients are fed, they will not necessarily produce an additive response! This is why it is important to include the best combination of ingredients, realizing it would be unproductive and cost prohibitive to "throw" everything into the bag. Listed below are the groups of micronutrients included in Dairy HP-Bio, which we feel will yield the most return for your dollar: NIACIN: 6 grams per cow per day supplied. This helps convert fat energy into milk, increasing production, while reducing Ketosis. Niacin is a B- Vitamin, one of several supplied in HP-Bio, such as Choline Chloride. In general, B-Vitamins help improve appetites. Cost to buy niacin separately is 8-10 cents a cow depending on the source. PROTEINATED ZINC, MANGANESE, COPPER, DAIRY COBALT: "OPTIMIN" are the brand names used. These are called proteinates because the trace minerals are bonded (chelated) to methionine, and in some cases, Iysine (both of which are amino acids, building blocks of protein). ZINC OPTIMiN is equivalent to the brand name Zin-Pro. Proteinated trace minerals have great value in helping cows show stronger heats and getting them bred, along with better overall herd health. Even though cost is higher, they are more effective as they are better metabolized by the animal Dairy Nutritionist Marshall E. McCullough states in a recent 'Feedstuffs' article; "In herds being pushed for top milk production, I am inclined to use some trace minerals as chelates. The general rule is to feed 25% of the mineral as a chelate. I use chelates of copper, manganese, zinc, and sometimes cobalt. ANC's levels of chelates closely match this suggestion. Adding Zin-Pro alone costs 2 cents, and Cuplex (copper) 4 cents. There are now combination Chelated trace mineral supplements available that cost 4-20 cents per day. LIVE BACTERIA: Lactic Acid producing bacteria of five different strains are included: Lactobacillus acidophilus, L. casei, L. fermentum, L. plantarum and Streptococcus faecium. Also included are Bacillus subtilis. These improve fiber digestion and help insure against a decreased rumen microbial population, which results from changes in feeding and environment. Users of bacteria supplements claim such benefits as increased appetite, production, protein test, and feed utilization. Many competitor's products only contain 1-2 strains of bacteria. Products supplying bacteria and yeast have costs of 8-19 cents per cow per day. Why buy a product containing only bacteria when you can carry along other micronutrients for pennies more? LIVE CELL YEAST and YEAST CULTURES: These increase digestibility of protein and fiber along with improving appetite. Prefresh and early lactation cows benefit greatly as increasing feed intake means healthier cows and more milk! Trials run with BIOMATE YEAST PLUS ( live cell culture in Dairy HP-Bio) showed an average increase of 2.5# of milk per cow per day! This alone would pay for DAIRY HP-BID. The balance of the yeast culture in Dairy HP-BID is made up of DIAMOND V XP YEAST CULTURE. Together with the BIOMATE YEAST there is an equivalent of 4 ounces of "Yeast Culture. per cow per day. This additional yeast further enhances fiber digestion and improves the appetite of cows. Cost for these yeast cultures purchased separately would be 7-11 cents per cow. VITAMINS: 250 additional lUs of Vitamin E for early lactation cows under stress, designed to supplement ANC program levels to bring total supplementa/vitamin E up to at least 1000 lUs for top producers. Also additional A, D, & K. Many other products do not include Vitamin K. Higher A & D levels are not needed here as this fortification comes from Dairy Base. Added cost is 3 - 5 cents ENZYMES, FERMENTATION PRODUCTS, MHA: Improves appetite, increases feed utilization, and helps feed rumen bugs and added bacteria to help insure optimal levels in the digestive tract. 4-7 cents TRACK MINERALS: Various functions that are especially important for higher producing cows. Includes iodine, Iron, copper, Manganese, Zinc, and Cobalt. These are in mixtures of sulfates and oxides depending on the best source. Cost, 3-5 cents ECONOMICS OF USE: As shown above, it would cost more to buy the necessary ingredients than your cost for Dairy HP-Bio. Increased milk alone at a minimal 3#/cow/day will justify its usage alone. A bigger economic benefit of improved reproduction would show an added benefit of $3.00/cow/day or $90/month by getting cows bred on time! These two benefits would be worth almost $140 the first 140 days of lactation, or $1.00 a day by investing only 1/3 of this! That is a 200% return! Also, what is it worth to have improved herd health and longevity? A NOTE ABOUT OUR PRODUCT: Dairy HP-Bio is marketed by ANC consultants and dealers as a part of a complete Ration Balancing Program which includes extensive servicing. Also, because Dairy HP-Bio contains many categories of micronutrients, the costs of shipping, handling, and ingredients are reduced. Remember, cost must be weighed against the value received! Dairv HP-Bio is common sense. and cents add up to dollars!
